Today, Tuesday 8th March 2022 is International Women’s Day and to celebrate we would like to introduce you to just some of the women in team Transparity doing great things!
Meet Chelsea Ward one of our Support Technician Apprentices.
Chelsea has been with Transparity for just 7 months, after making the bold decision to change careers and jump into the world of IT. Her role combines both study and full-time employment as part of the Support Team.
Chelsea shows her strength through building her confidence and learning to resolve challenges, all whilst providing exceptional customer service. Recently Chelsea was selected as an ambassador to attend Microsoft’s National Apprenticeship event and we were more than proud to see her there representing Transparity.
Chelsea gives us a snapshot into her career and transitioning into a new sector in our Transparity 10 questions in 10 minutes.
Setting up with all the resources, checking over my tickets before my shift helps me plan and be ready for the day ahead sorting what tickets I should go through first.
My biggest strength is my proactive behaviour and my willingness to learn new things on the spot.
My greatest experience so far has been taking on an apprenticeship, working hard and making in to the Microsoft headquarters in Reading. Not your average ice breaker and one that I am really proud of.
Tenacious, proactive and goal orientated.
One thing people don’t know about me is that I used to be in chess club! I love chess, wasn’t good at it but I really enjoy playing.
My favourite part of the day is the times I have the ability to help and teach others the things that I have learned.
I can’t live without bacon, dogs and most of all, books.
Making the complete left turn in to the world of IT has been my bravest and greatest achievement to date.
The power to learn from the books you touch, It’s one of my dreams to speak another language.
I love bonding with my colleagues and knowing if I am ever stuck, I have so many people around me that are happy to help me out in a pinch.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is an annual event dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women, and increasing visibility of women, whilst continuing the call for action to eradicate inequality and close the gender gap around the world. We invite you to join us as we dedicate a day to the women of the world and to the women of Transparity.
Today we celebrate the one year anniversary of our internal network for the women of Transparity ‘wit’.
Launched last year on IWD, with the sponsorship of the CEO and led by our People & Culture Partner, Michelle Wilson, ‘wit’ it is a platform for women in the business to come together, to support, share, inspire and uplift each other. We’ve hosted a number of roundtable sessions; learnt from a coach about developing our confidence; shared resources such as book recommendations and podcasts; been a listening ear when things are tough; learnt about our strengths and how we should be playing towards them; provided membership to The WIT Network for training and mentoring; and that is just some of the things at the start of this journey.
We believe we are changing perceptions and attitudes, creating opportunities and making a difference. Our drive to amplify women in Transparity and women in tech has seen our female headcount grow from 10 to 33 in a year.
This has resulted in an increase of female representation at the Senior Leadership level; an increase of females in technical roles including 2 outstanding data consultants; and 50% of our Academy apprentices joining us are female.
Today we celebrate the women of Transparity and their fantastic achievements over this last year, starting with a Female in Focus with our newly promoted Head of Sales, Jessica Pattison (congratulations!) followed by our outstanding Support Technician Apprentice, Chelsea Ward.
Today we are taking part in a number of events, including attending Microsoft’s IWD event and attending sessions this evening hosted by The WIT Network. Alongside, we have released related content to the entire organisation in partnership with LinkedIn Learning about breaking the bias and allyship. This is the start of Chapter 2.

Meet Jess Pattison our Head of Sales. Jess has been with Transparity for almost 3 years, joining as a Cloud Specialist in the Account Management Team. Her most recent role has seen Jess promoted to Head of Sales with the responsibility of a wider team of 20 + employees.
Jess shows her strength through stepping up to new challenges and the teams she builds around her. Recently proven by winning the Good to Great – Award at our annual ‘Shouties’ 2021 company awards, as voted for by her colleagues and peers.
Jess gives us a snapshot into her career and finding that work/life balance in a remote working landscape, in our Transparity 10 questions in 10 minutes.
Transparity 10 in 10 Female Focus: Jess Pattison – Head of Sales.
With a nice fresh coffee and some time with my daughters before school. To kick off the working day I spend 10 minutes planning my day and understanding my tasks.
Building relationships. I love working with people and how we can work together using our combined strengths.
My biggest learning experience so far was when studying for my Masters degree. At the age of 32 and having had an incredibly busy career, it was the first time I had really taken time to stop, think and reflect. One of the lecturers pointed out that we live in world of responding to stimulus and then reacting which is fairly robotic. Instead, we should put choice and consideration in between the stimulus and reaction. This is something that I have taken forward with me, whether it is taking the time to reflect myself or encouraging others to do so.
Active, positive, determined.
This was hard as I talk quite a lot! I am really uncomfortable presenting. It is a big part of the work I do but very much pushes me outside of my comfort zone.
I like all parts of the day for many different reasons. I like the family time in the morning, the challenge of work and the relaxation at the end of the day.
Time with my family, my mountain bike and sweets!
This has to be being the Head of Account Management this year. Making it through a tough climate with lockdowns, video call fatigue and both social and work isolation; with a Team that exceeded their targets and were so strong throughout a completely unprecedented time. I am incredibly proud of them all and our achievements for the year.
Being able to be in more than one place at any one time.
I love the team spirit and how we can all work together to achieve a certain project or an overall goal.
